Bipolar disorder, sometimes called manic depression, can be difficult to detect. Be sure to find a healthcare provider skilled in diagnosing and treating bipolar and other mental health disorders.
A primary care or family doctor can often recommend a mental-health specialist. In some cases, you may want to have both a medical doctor and a counselor.
You can also contact your insurance company to help find a healthcare provider or use an online doctor finder to find a specialist. One example is the American Medical Association.
